Přístavba rodinného domu v Oxfordu
investor: soukromá osoba
autorka: Kateřina Landová
stav: v realizaci
The new architectural design extends the interior space of a two-storey terraced house and connects it with garden. According to the investor’s wishes, the living area on the second floor is extended by a bedroom with own bathroom and toilet. The entrance to the house is also extended by a covered vestibule.
The concept of the extension is based on the implementation of the first phase of house refurbishment, which was already realized. This line of side annex is followed by a new extension opened towards the garden by generous glass French door with an accordion folding. So is created a new living space on the ground floor. There is a built-in compact box with a kitchen, bathroom, toilet, pantry and mechanical room. The existing kitchen is preserved, it is just shifted and illuminated by new skylights. A dining table is placed in the lightest part close to the garden. A wooden podium for the possibility of rest or children’s play is situated in the back corner of living space – connected with garden and living space, but hidden at the same time. The new large non-openable window with extended parapet at the side façade offers a resting place for other family members.
The extension is corresponding with an industrial character, as well as all the current adjustments of the house: new anthracite dark aluminium windows, bricks, wood, stone, large glassing. For surfaces used in exterior we propose to use the materials in current combinations – brick cladding or plastering in a colour range from white to dark gray (black). The garden pergola can be made from wood or in more subtle metal profiles. The extension will be covered by a green roof.
